William Saliba has said he wants to fight for his place at Arsenal next season, while Yves Bissouma’s recent social media activity will be of interest to Gunners fans.
The sting in the tail of the 2021-22 season for Arsenal will slowly start to fade.
Their late collapse and relinquishment of fourth place to Tottenham Hotspur undoubtedly hurt, as Champions League football at the Emirates Stadium would have provided an exciting springboard for the club. But there are still clearly reasons to be positive.
Manager Mikel Arteta will be well aware of areas in the squad that need restocking – after Alexandre Lacazette’s departure, a centre-forward will surely be high on his wish list.

Saliba intends to succeed at Arsenal
William Saliba has made it clear he wants to show his quality at Arsenal next season.
The Gunners defender arrived at the Emirates Stadium with an excellent reputation, despite having yet to feature for the club in a competitive match. Saliba has spent this season on loan at Marseille and has impressed enough to earn a call-up to the France squad for recent internationals.
There has been speculation over the defender’s future in recent weeks, although he has brushed aside any suggestion he wants to leave the Gunners.
“I belong to Arsenal, and I have two more years there,” he said. “I’ll be here for pre-season with Arsenal. I haven’t played any games for Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and get the chance to play for the fans and for this great club.”

Bissouma drops a hint on Instagram
Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma has fueled speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.
The Mali man shared footage of one of his performances against Congo in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which included a user caption saying ‘for me I think he [Bissouma] and [Youri] Tielemans must be our priority in midfield, we need Yves Bissouma for Arsenal at all costs.”
Bissouma also shared another post from the same user, in which it is claimed that the Brighton man could be the player to replace Thomas Partey in the long term.
Midfield is one area where the Gunners are expected to add reinforcements as Partey’s absence proved disastrous for the side late in the campaign as they pushed for a Champions League place.

Sterling considering a free transfer
Manchester City striker Raheem Sterling is reportedly considering letting his contract run out at the Etihad Stadium.
The England international has long been linked with a move to Arsenal and with just one year remaining on his contract, it may well be possible to sort out a transfer this summer.
However, Sterling is reportedly considering the prospect of becoming a free agent at the end of next season instead. This would not only allow him to get higher salaries and high signing fees, but also give him more freedom to choose his next club.
Sterling has played a crucial role in City’s dominance in the Premier League in recent years, although he is no longer a first-team regular under Guardiola.
