The club have now confirmed the 2019 Rugby World Cup winner will leave at the end of the season, with the center believed to be “join a club outside Europe”.

Predictably, there have been strong links with a move to Japan – which seems most likely – but there has also been talk that he could make a return to South Africa.

It’s something Eben Etzebeth seems to have suggested when he recently answered a question about how he would end his career in South Africa, while mentioning that De Allende had ‘announced his upcoming return’.

Sharks are known to be on the hunt for an inside center, but are expected to sign Rohan Janse van Rensburg.

There’s no doubt either the Bulls or the Lions would welcome a player like De Allende, although any offers would pale in comparison to what he could pocket in Japan.

The burly midfielder is, of course, a former Stormers player, and so it may be worth returning to The cap where he was born and raised.

Speaking to Irish media recently, Damian de Allende said he was not yet confirmed where he would go next, but he said it would be do not be an English club Bath where the current Munster coach Johann van Graan will be heading soon.

Damian de Allende will “leave Europe”

“I’m not staying, but it hasn’t been confirmed where I’m going. I’m not staying in Europe so I’m definitely not going to Bath, I haven’t spoken to anyone in Bath.

“I won’t be staying in Europe at the end of the season, it’s a shame, but I can’t wait to finish the season in style… I really want to leave Munster with good memories that I have already, but silverware too.

Here’s a reminder of how the South African website rated the Springbok superstar (out of 10) last year after another outstanding season on the international stage:

ALENDE BOKS’ BACKLINE BULLDOZER – 8

It looks like Damian de Allende is finally starting to get the applause it’s due after a year in which he has continued to cement his reputation as a world-class performer.

De Allende ended the year with a outstanding performance against Englandcapping another superb season for the dynamic midfielder.

The 30-year-old started in 11 of the Boks’ 13 Tests last year, having a consistent impact as a powerful ball carrier, while barely making a wrong footing in defence.

He also demonstrated how he has become a player with a very effective offloading game that has a consistent impact on the breakdown.

“From a future perspective, Damian is your man to go to. He’s amazing at the breakdown. He causes as much chaos in terms of putting on the ball as Duane Vermeulen, Malcolm Marx and Kwagga Smith,” former Bok great Bryan Habana recently raved about describing De Allende.

“As a rugby fan, look at Damian’s work at the breakdown. He fights constantly, putting that extra yard in defense and attack, putting defense and attack under so much more pressure.

“His combination with Lukhanyo Am has been thriving for most of three and a half years, which is great to see. He’s one of the best passers on the ball. I like Damien. I think he’s the guy the quietest and most laid back and a bright guy.
