Charles Dela Cruz, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Medicine (Respirology, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine) has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), which supports scientific endeavours, educational needs, and clinical aspirations physician-scientists.
The board reviewed 227 nominations and recommended 95 candidates for election. Dela Cruz is among new members from 46 different institutions that represent excellence in all of academic medicine.
ASCI also recognized Lauren Ferrante, MD, MHS, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Respirology, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine), as the 2022 ASCI Young Physician Scientist. The ASCI Council Young Physician-Scientist Awards (YPSA) recognize physician-scientists who are in their first appointment to the faculty and who have made outstanding achievements in their research.
Dela Cruz will be formally inducted into the society at the ASCI Dinner and New Member Induction Ceremony on April 8, 2022 as part of the Joint AAP/ASCI/APSA Meeting, April 8-10 in Chicago. Ferrante and YPSA recipients also attend the meeting, where they gain experience through leadership development workshops, thematic roundtables with ASCI members, peer review panels and virtual poster sessions.
